Boys Scouts of America Distinguished Citizen Awards-San Marcos, CA

Merriam Mountains was proud to be the Title Sponsor at the Boys Scouts of America Distinguished Citizen Awards Breakfast Friday, August 28th. Community members including the Honorable Mayor Jim Desmond, San Marcos Vice Mayor Hal Martin, San Marcos City Council Member Rebecca Jones, San Marcos Planning Commission Chair Steve Kildoo and many more gathered to honor Mr. William Rucker, retiring Director of the Vallecitos Water District. Mr. Rucker is very involved in the community with activities including: San Marcos Rotary Club, San Marcos High School Booster's Club, San Marcos Future Farmers of America, San Marcos Boys and Girls Club, Escondido Kiwanis Club, San Marcos Cemetery Board of Directors, San Diego Zoological Society and American Pheasant and Waterfowl Society. Mr. Rucker has also given 20 years of continued service to the Boy Scouts of America as an adult volunteer including the following activities: Troop 651 Leader, Merit Badge Counselor, Explorer Advisor, Unit Commissioner, Kit Carson District Commissioner, Graduate and Instructor of Numerous Training Programs, Dean of Bachelor Program, College of Commissioner Science, Boy Scouts of America District Award of Merit and Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver Award. The Merriam Mountains team was excited to honor such an important member of our community. Joe Perring, Linda Bailey and Steve Sheldon were all on hand to show there support for Mr. Rucker. Congratulations William Rucker on an amazing achievement!
