Friends of Merriam Mountains Event at Belle Marie Winery

Wednesday, September 30th the Merriam Mountains Project team threw a fabulous Friends of Merriam Mountains Event at Belle Marie Winery in Escondido. The Dragoo's (owners of Belle Marie Winery) provided a great space for the event in their Barrel Room while Ciao Catering in Vista prepared delicious food. Over 50 friends gathered to get a recap of the project from Joe Perring and to show their continued support for the Merriam Mountains Project. As the Merriam Mountains Project heads to Planning Commission on October 9th this event was a great reminder of the wonderful support that the North County community has provided to this exciting project. Boys Scouts of America Distinguished Citizen Awards-San Marcos, CA

Merriam Mountains was proud to be the Title Sponsor at the Boys Scouts of America Distinguished Citizen Awards Breakfast Friday, August 28th. Community members including the Honorable Mayor Jim Desmond, San Marcos Vice Mayor Hal Martin, San Marcos City Council Member Rebecca Jones, San Marcos Planning Commission Chair Steve Kildoo and many more gathered to honor Mr. William Rucker, retiring Director of the Vallecitos Water District. Mr. Rucker is very involved in the community with activities including: San Marcos Rotary Club, San Marcos High School Booster's Club, San Marcos Future Farmers of America, San Marcos Boys and Girls Club, Escondido Kiwanis Club, San Marcos Cemetery Board of Directors, San Diego Zoological Society and American Pheasant and Waterfowl Society. Mr. Rucker has also given 20 years of continued service to the Boy Scouts of America as an adult volunteer including the following activities: Troop 651 Leader, Merit Badge Counselor, Explorer Advisor, Unit Commissioner, Kit Carson District Commissioner, Graduate and Instructor of Numerous Training Programs, Dean of Bachelor Program, College of Commissioner Science, Boy Scouts of America District Award of Merit and Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver Award. The Merriam Mountains team was excited to honor such an important member of our community. Joe Perring, Linda Bailey and Steve Sheldon were all on hand to show there support for Mr. Rucker. Congratulations William Rucker on an amazing achievement!

Champagne Village Luncheon Hosted by Wayne & Sylvia Clark

Sunday, August 9th, Wayne and Sylvia Clark hosted a luncheon at Champagne Village in the community's wonderful Village Hall. Joe Perring, Merriam Mountains' Project Manager, presented Merriam Mountains' latest PowerPoint presentation; which was followed by a very informative question and answer session with the residents of Champagne Village. Smoke House Grills catered the event and the food was top notch! Overall it was a very successful event with over 100 Champagne Village residents in attendance.
